Reclaimed Wood Flooring
A Stunning Makeover

Reclaimed Wood Flooring - Perfect for any home

It can be argued that one of the most important decisions you make when you are building or renovating your home is the flooring you choose.  Flooring heavily influences the look and feel of you home, and of course is not easily changed.  There are so many option today, it can be difficult to pick what type of flooring to go with.  Although we may be a little biased, we truly believe reclaimed wood flooring is the perfect choice for any home.  Read on to learn why!

Why not Engineered Flooring

It’s no revelation that wooden flooring is a popular choice for homes today.  Homeowners do however often think all wood floors are created equal, which they certainly are not.  In recent years engineered flooring has gain popularity largely due to the lower price points.

When you are choosing flooring, you are well served by  remembering the old adage “You get what you pay for”.  Engineered flooring has very little solid wood on it, with the wear layers being thin in many cases.  For a homeowner this means heavily traffic areas can show wear quickly, and unfortunately there will be no way to refinish the surfaces.

Between normal wear and tear, kids dropping toys, and pets with claws, a less expensive engineered floor can be worn out in just a few years.  If you’ve found your forever home, the last thing you want to be doing is replacing your floors five years in.

Timeless Style and Warmth for your home

Reclaimed wood flooring looks as amazing today as it did thirty years ago. Your home deserves the warmth and beauty only real wood can offer.

Benefits of Reclaimed Wood Flooring

So what makes solid wood flooring different from engineered flooring?  The simplest answer is the amount of wood per plank.  Solid wood floors are just as they sound – all wood.  Engineered wood floors only have a few millimeters of wood on top of the plank, which means it will wear out fast.  Here are a few other key points to keep in mind:

  1. Solid wood flooring can be refinished. This means that high wear areas can be sanded down and refinished to match the rest of your flooring.  This literally saves you thousands of dollars when compared to replacing all of the flooring in your home.
  2. Wood flooring is more durable. This is important especially if you have children and pets.  Even an adjust can accidentally drop something heavy, which could literally destroy an engineered plank.  Hard wood is more durable for everyday use.
  3. Hardwood flooring is less likely to warp.  Living in Ohio, the humidity and temperature varies greatly throughout the year.   Solid wood flooring is less likely to warp or buckle as the seasons change throughout the year.
  4. Ease of Care.  Hardwood flooring is easy to care for with simple dry mopping, vacuuming, and the occasional wet mop.
Reclaimed Wood Flooring Options

When you are picking your reclaimed wood flooring, there are two main options for consideration, oak and mixed species.  Oak flooring is incredibly hard which equates to durability, and has a very distinct grain pattern.  When you add in the natural saw marks and over 100 years of unique character in each plank, it creates a stunning look in any home.

Mix species also is gorgeous, and has a variety of grain patterns accented with saw marks.  Slightly more supple than oak, it’s a more forgiving type of lumber.

No matter what you choose, all od our reclaimed wood flooring is sourced locally from buildings that are often in excess of 100 years old.  There is no other flooring on the planet that has as much warmth and character than the lumber rescued from these structures.

The effect of having continuous hardwood running throughout the home is amazing.  It creates a warm, cohesive feel that ties in all of your interior design throughout the home.

Reclaimed hardwood flooring planks each have their own unique history and character.  No two are alike, which give your finished floors a natural feel.  They also are a great option because imperfections from normal wear and tear are greatly reduced when compared to an engineered wood.
